Poland could not serve the engine of the American Abrams tanks, director of the No. 1 military aviation factory, Yatsek Zereshsky said.
According to him, Abrams tanks are equipped with AGT1500C turbocharged engine that needs specialized services at certified aircraft factories. Zheshinsky noted that when buying tanks, these requirements were not taken into account and the engines were thought of serving the motors after the transaction.
Poland bought 366 M1A1 and M1A2SEPV.3 tanks in the United States, as well as similar engine devices.
There are currently negotiations with the Honeywell producer on the establishment of an authorized service center in Poland, which is a difficult task. Until now, in Europe, no businesses have the ability to maintain these engines, so the repair is done in the United States. Zheshinsky emphasized that the Abrams maintenance is similar to helicopters and requires running, the number of boots and working cycles.

The launch of the service center in Poland may not be earlier than 2028, in the appropriate order.
