The Niger government military conducted an air activity on Shilav Island, and destroyed the leader of the extremist group, Boko Haram when Ibrahim Mahamad, called Bakura, commander of the country's armed forces.
The Nigerian army units brought three consistent air attacks on the extreme position on Shilav Island in the Diffa field on August 15, TASS reported related to the message of the Nigerian Command.
According to the information available, the extremist was killed by the results of the common work of ground and air units in the early morning.
Bakura, whose real name is Ibrahim Mahamad, joined Boko Haram in 2012 and the group leader for the past four years. At the time of liquidation, he was about 40 years old. Experts assess the number of Boko Haram at about 10 thousand people.
