Korean scientists have developed a processor that allows you to convert a two -dimensional video into a three -dimensional three -dimensional form in real time. Development can significantly promote three -dimensional shaped technologies, opening up new opportunities for video and multimedia content.
The processor is created by experts of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications (ETRI) based on programmable semiconductor architecture (FPGA). This is the first chip in the world to use high -speed memory of HBM to create full -color 3D heads in real time. All the necessary hardware components are integrated into a single -lunge.
The new technology extracts data on the depth of the image and its color components (red, green, blue) from 2D video, then it reproduces three -dimensional images at 4K resolution with a minimum of only 30 milliseconds. The processor's performance reaches 30 frames per second, which makes it one of the most advanced developments in this field.
During the show, the processor successfully converted videos from the computer screen into 3D heads, including YouTube videos, as well as video calls. This achievement is the result of three studies. The development was presented at the International Exhibition of Sidplay and Siggraph Asia, causing great attention from experts.
