From one attack, the planet could rang millions of years, scientists have discovered

Young planets are often similar to the battlefield: their formation comes with chaotic clashes, as can be seen by the face of the moon. Scientists from the University of California at Berkeley have found a way to huge shots between the planets that can stimulate the long seismic waves capable of capturing modern telescopes – especially James Webb space telescope. The print of the work is published on the ARXIV portal.

From one attack, the planet could rang millions of years, scientists have discovered

The authors studied the hypothetical clash of a young giant with a giant planet. They focused on Exoplanet Betta Borota B- Super-Jupiter, the weight is 13 times higher than the mass of Jupiter, and only 12 20 million matches. It is thought that this body contains from 100 to 300 large volumes of heavy elements – perhaps the result of a series of merger with other planets.

The researchers simulated what would happen if a planet had a similar mass of Neptune (17 earthly blocks) that would crash into Beta B. It turned out that such a shot could stimulate the various seismic vibrations: from the surface waves (F-Mods), reminiscent of the ripples on the water, to the sound waves (P-Mods) penetrate deeply into the planet.

It is important that such fluctuations can exist for millions of years, changing the brightness of the planet within infrared. These are such variants that can repair Webb telescope – not directly, but through photography fluctuations in brightness.

The authors said the seismician provided a direct path to studying the internal structures of the giant planets, the authors said.

According to their calculations, if the shot occurred 9-18 million years ago, the telescope could now cause its consequences.
