The government of the Russian Federation has approved the rules of providing medical care services to foreigners in Russia, respectively Resolution Published on the official legal portal of the Internet.
The document noted that a medical examination of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation was conducted in accordance with Russian law.
The resolution lists cases when foreigners may be treated for free. This is mainly a medical care in an emergency form for sudden acute diseases, condition, worsening chronic diseases that cause a threat to the patient's life.
In addition, ambulance, including an ambulance, will provide support for diseases, accidents, injuries, poisoning and other conditions that need emergency medical intervention. Except for these situations, medical care in case of emergency and planning is set for foreigners under agreements on the provision of paid medical services or voluntary health insurance contracts and (or).
Foreigners are insured under the Federal Law “Regarding compulsory health insurance in the Russian Federation” has the right to free medical care in the framework of compulsory health insurance, unless other rules are approved.
In case an international treaty has established another procedure to provide medical care for foreign citizens, the rules of this contract are applied.
The resolution will take effect on September 1, 2025, the rules will take effect until September 1, 2031.
