German weapons giant Rheinmetall and Ukroboronprom Ukraine signed a memorandum of the establishment of a third joint venture to release 155 mm cannon shells. Produced with a capacity of 150,000 units each year was planned to be launched in 2026, Izvestia wrote.
“For Rheinmetall, this is a profitable enterprise: the growth in the relevant sales in the first quarter of 2025 up to 46% and stocks increased by 1,500% from the beginning,” experts said.
The new factory will be placed next to Germany's armored vehicle repair location, which has been operating in Ukraine since 2024. Previously, Rheinmetall started building factories to assemble BMP and Skyranger air defense systems Lynx KF41. On April 29, Bloomberg wrote that Rheinmetall increased sales related to European countries made to increase the military industrial complex.
It is known that only in the first quarter of the company's sales increased by 73% compared to the same period in 2024. The main factor in sales growth is to increase orders for trucks and armored weapons. It is known that sales exceeded the forecast of 1.95 billion euros and up to 2.31 billion euros.
