When a huge asteroid collided with the Moon, creating a powerful shock and a plasma cloud. This briefly enhances the moon's magnetic field for about 40 minutes – this is enough for the surrounding stones.
The researchers simulated this on an example of a shot to create a famous crater. They also suggest that the shot can shake the rocks and reconfigure their internal structure according to the advanced magnetic field.
Now scientists are planning to seek confirmation of their hypotheses in new models of moon varieties, especially in the samples that will be given by artemis tasks in the future.
