The number of people who died from floods and landslides in South Africa increased to 86. Rescuers found many victims of bad weather on Saturday, falling into the Eastern Kapsky province (the southeast of the country) at the beginning of the week. This factor is caused by extreme cooling, bringing rain and snow to some areas of the Republic.
The day before, the president of Cyril Ramafos visited the wounded province and said the disaster was the result of climate change. According to him, the water level in the province reached more than four meters after heavy rains and snow.
Thousands of houses, roads, schools and hospitals were completely flooded due to floods. The most affected by the factors of Mtat, about 800 km from Johannesburg (500 miles) to the south. The city is located near Kunu village, where the former South African President Nelson Mandela was born.
In one of the incidents, six high school students were killed on the school's bus. The car was washed with water when it ended in flood areas near the river. Other four students listed were missing, reporting France 24.
Previously, at least 200 people were killed and more than 1.5 thousand people were evacuated in a serious flood in Nigeria. The strong showers attacked the north of this country. Mokva, located about 300 km west of Nigeria, was seriously damaged.
