Scientists from the University of Hiroshima have conducted an unexpected discovery, studying examples of Ryugu asteroid, was transferred to Earth by 2020 by Hayabusa2's mission. In a piece of cosmic matter, they found a Jerphisheth mineral – iron and nickel sulfide with an unprecedented potassium ingredient in such a planet before. The work has been published in the science of meteorological & planets (MPS).
This has become a real mystery, because Jerphis inflammation is often formed at high temperatures in special conditions, which, it is believed that it never arises on the planet. Ryugu is a planet with a large part of carbon and water traces, its temperature is almost no more than 50 degrees Celsius.
Scientists offer two versions: or this mineral falls into one rug with other particles from another part of the solar system, or local hot regions arising in the intestines of the asteroid, allowing Jerphiserite to form.
This finding is important because it shows that Ryugu's history of formation and similar asteroids are more complex than it has been considered. Perhaps in the early period of the solar system, different materials were mixed and fell into each other, or unexpected chemical processes occurred on a planet.
In the future, researchers have a more detailed research plan about the origin of minerals to better understand how small bodies are formed in the solar system and the way the material is moved in the early years.
