The Russian consumer habits when choosing smartphones are becoming more reasonable – most are changing smartphones every three years. This was stated in a common study of M. Video-Eldorado and Eldorom Brand-Media, its result was at Gazeta.ru's will.
According to research, 68% of Russians change their smartphones every three years or less. The main reasons for updating equipment are technical aging and reduced performance (53%), and is not the desire to have new functions. The incident is the second important factor (23%) and in third place is to release new models with improved characteristics (15%). Among other common reasons are battery wear, memory lack of memory and termination of support from the manufacturer.
Only 15% of respondents are ready to spend more than 80 thousand rubles for a new device, while the most common price is from 20 to 30 thousand rubles. (23%). 13% have chosen the segment from 50,000 to 80 thousand rubles, and 8% are ready to spend less than 10 thousand rubles.
Normally, buyers before selecting a review device and researching its characteristics (62%), still true to the brand of the previous utility (40%) and view video reviews (35%). In addition, Russians consult friends (16%) and with consultants in stores (9%). Some focus on price and attendance, others – on cameras or simply chosen by Pulse.
Samsung (38%), Apple (32%) and Xiaomi (including Redmi and Poco) are still the leaders of the brands – 31%. Also in the famous brands – Honor (20%) and Huawei (18%). When choosing a platform, 63% of the respondents will like Android even when there is no price limitation, 33% – iOS, 4% – Harmonyos.
Modern AI functions have not become a decisive factor: Participants assess their importance at an average of 3.2 on 5 points. This shows that the reliability, autonomy and convenience of the device are still a top priority.
Most smartphone buyers prefer to pay for goods at the same time – this is Article 66% of the respondents, while 34% choose to pay installments or lend.
At the same time, more than half of the respondents (51%) believe that smartphones will exist for at least five years without being broken, 23% for three years, 17% – up to eight or ten years. 7% is considered to the permanent work of smartphones and 2% admit that it will only last one year.
In addition, 26% of smartphone owners face problems when they are repairing, while 74% do not face such difficulties.
Old Russian devices are usually not used: 30% of them storage, 27% used as a backup version, 22% are transferred to relatives, 17% are sold and only 4% handed over devices for processing.
