Geoffrey Hinton, one of the pioneers of artificial intelligence technologies, thinks that health workers will not lose their jobs to artificial intelligence in the near future.
Geoffrey Hinton, also known as the father of artificial intelligence baptism, warns that most of the artificial intelligence will automate most common and social intellectual work may not be ready for it. Speaking at the diary of a CEO Podcast, published on June 16, the famous scientist said that at the end of the artificial intelligence, it would be better than everyone in most fields and mass losses would be “the biggest threat to everyone's happiness”. On the other hand, Hinton believes that the work requires physical skills to withstand automation for a longer time. Specifically, he said that health workers will not lose their work in artificial intelligence in the near future.
“The medical sector will assimilate the change”
Hinton, often called the “father of artificial intelligence”, has recently left Google and began to make more clear about the risks of technology. In his speeches, scientists, who often reach the moral aspect and the risk of automation of artificial intelligence, said in his final interview, “he will be able to assimilate some field changes like the health sector. But most businesses are not durable as the health sector.” Hinton added that he supported the idea of universal basic income to compensate for business losses, but this may not be enough: “Even with universal basic income, people can still feel unhappy because they lose their consciousness without work.”
“Good ideas to become a plumbing”
Hinton also said that business lines based on physical ability will maintain its position for a while. “Artificial intelligence will be good for physical tasks that will take a long time. Therefore, making plumbing workers is a wise choice,” the scientist, artificial intelligence assistant will allow an employee to perform the work of 10 people, which will reduce the demand for entry work, he said. “If I have worked in a call center, I will be very scared. You should be very talented when there is an artificial intelligence job.”
