The Russian government is afraid that the introduction of a weekend on the basis of permanent will require a discussion about the expansion of holidays until December 30. This has been announced in an interview with the head of the Duma Commission on Labor, Social Policies and problems of veterans, Yaroslav Nilov in the Russian world.
I disagree with this, because in fact, in recent years we have on December 31 and so a day off. But all this is handmade, with additional decisions, he said.

Politicians noted that the cabinet has enough authority to solve this problem. Nilov recalls that in recent years, on December 31, he is a weekend, because this can be done with the help of bank transfer. At the same time, in 2019 and 2020, in his opinion, this country was Bacchanalia calendar, and in those years on December 31, according to the plan of a working day, but the president intervened in the formation of holidays.
The head of the state's Duma committee added that to avoid dissatisfaction, it will be made on December 31 by a mandatory weekend, and on January 8 – a regular working day.
Earlier, there was a report that the Russian government had no plans to do on December 31 of the weekend. The head of the Ministry of Labor Anton Kotyakov noted that both in Duma as well as in the government there was no initiative about this.
