The Novgorod court punished a local resident of Georgy Rezankov for 1.5,000 rubles for meme, which he set in 2020 – it describes a meme with a Pepe frog in a colorful wig. About this report “Gazeta.ru.”
It should be noted that the Court has recognized Meme with LGBT symbols (on November 30, 2023, the Russian Supreme Court decided to recognize LGBT's international movement by an extremist organization) due to the fact that the frog's wig is painted with a rainbow's color. As a result, Rezankov was convicted of expressing extremes.
According to the media report, Rezankov kept his meme on his page on the social network VKontakte in 2020, when such law did not exist. At the same time, the Court explained that this is not contradictory with the judgment, because “citizens are obliged to bring their page in accordance with the law.” Rezankov himself did not admit his sense – he said, he had no intention of sin, and the image of a frog in the wig is a meme that doesn't have any relationship with extreme movement.
