Apple, according to the famous Min-Chi Kuo analyst, is working to create a new, more affordable Macbook model. The main feature of the device will be the use of the A18 Pro chip, which has established itself in the iPhone 16 Pro, instead of traditional M-series processors for laptops. This has been reported by 9to5Mac publication.
The launch of a new device is expected by the end of 2025 or early 2026. According to it, the laptop will have a 13 -inch screen similar to the current MacBook Air model and can escape in some color options, including silver, pink and gold.
This will be the first case when the Mac is equipped with the A-Series processor developed for the iPhone. Although the performance of the A18 Pro chip in multitasking modes is worse than M4, its single performance is almost comparable. In multilateral mode, its power can be compared to the 2020 M1 chip, which is still successfully used by many users.
Analysts noted that Apple plans to produce from 5 to 7 million such devices by 2026. Such high production volume shows the company aims to set a significantly lower price than the current base cost of the MacBook Air ($ 999).
The release of such a laptop will be an access to a new territory to Apple, because the company has never provided MacBook before the price below this level, according to 9to5mac.
