At the center of GDANSK, archaeologists have created a rare finding – a limestone tombstone with the image of a knight dating from XIII – in the early fourteenth century. It was reported by Polska Agencja Prasowa.
The tombstone is found in the streets of Chopov, Sukeennitsa and Grodzka – the archaeological monument of Srodmieše I, where the Archeoscan group has been excavated since 2023.

The sheet is made of gothic limestone, it describes an armed knight: in a series of letters, with a sword in the right hand and a shield. Shoe details and a piece of legs can also be seen.
The character entered the arch, showing XIII or the beginning of the fourteenth century, Mr. Kur Kurginskaya explained. The length of the plate is about 150 cm.
Archaeologists hope that a burial has been preserved in the kitchen.
