Astronomers recorded the birth of a giant planet in a distant star system

The group of international astronomers under the leadership of the University of Goreea (Ireland) has made an important discovery. With the help of a huge telescope of Southern Astronomy (VLT ESO) in Chile, scientists first received detailed images of the planet formed, the volume is much higher than the mass of Jupiter. The study was published in the Journal of Astronomical & Astronomical Science (A&A).

Astronomers recorded the birth of a giant planet in a distant star system

In published images, a visoplanetary plate can be visible, lasting over 130 astronomical units (about 19.5 billion km) from the mother star. This distance is four times higher than the Neptune's orbit in our solar system.

Particularly interested in scientists is due to the unique disc structure containing a clear, clear broken ring at a distance of 50 astronomical unit and spiral sleeve system within this distance.

Among the about 100 primeval disks we have studied, this shows an almost perfect compliance with the theoretical models of the formation of planets, he said that the head of research, Dr. Christian Ginski.

The scale of the system is particularly impressive – its inner part with a radius of 40 astronomical units can contain all the planets of our solar system.

The results are opened up new opportunities to understand the process of forming planet systems.

Scientists plan to continue observing to clarify the parameters of emerging planets and more to study the dynamics of the primary disc.
