For the first time, the Neutrinum Baikal telescope registered a neutrino with extremely high energy, the origin of becoming the object in our galaxy. Detecting reports in the article, publish In the journal Physics Magazine.
Neutrino – Basic beads in fact do not interact with substances. They freely pass through stars, planets and only in rare cases of other particles. It is difficult to fix such interactions, so the plants underground and underwater are huge, such as the Baikal telescope, used to observe them.
It is installed at a depth of 1300 meters of Lake Baikal. About 4700 optical sensors monitor the outbreak of light – Chelenkov radiation, occurring when neutrino encounter water molecules and generate desires, moving faster than light in the water environment.
The signal recorded by the Russian telescope is one of the rare signals. In a year, such neutrino manages to catch no more than 10-15. And more importantly, this time is the source of the grain that is located in the way milk.
This finding has become an important contribution to the youth area of Neutrinum astronomy. Until now, scientists have managed to link the high energy neutrino only with additional sources -Submarine located away from the border of our galaxy. New data suggests the existence of strong objects – such as Pulsar or Supernova residues – in the center of the galaxy.
