Microsoft plans to launch a separate chip for artificial intelligence (AI). Initially, the company hoped to set up mass production by 2025, but now production has been postponed until 2026. This has been reported by information, quoting sources close to the project.
We are talking about a new generation chip under the name of the Braga code, which Microsoft is developing to use in our data centers. However, according to the publication, it is worse in the performance of the competitor – Nvidia Blackwell chip, presented at the end of last year.
The reasons for the delay are called a number of factors at the same time: difficulty with the perfection of chip architecture, lack of personnel and high staff revenue. All this affects the terms of preparation for production.
Microsoft has planned to use this chip this year to support the work of its AI services. Now the project implementation is at least six months.
