The group of international scientists has discovered the oldest beach on Mars, allowing to clarify the deadline when there is water on the planet. Research is published in the magazine PNAS.

On Mars found 3 billion years old on the beach

American and Chinese experts led by Jianhway Lee from Guangzhou University in China analyzed data obtained from Jurong Gi -Rosa Georadar. It turned out that in the Northern Hemisphere of Mars, there was a dry ocean and a beach, with age that could be 3 billion years old.

The machine has checked the surface of the planet and what is hidden under it, using Georadar capable of analyzing stone at a depth of up to 100 meters. The presence and nature of the deposits indicate exactly that the ocean and the beach's road were once in the plain's position.

According to the researchers, in the period from 4.1 to 3.7 billion years ago on Mars, clear, quite wet. There is little evidence that water was preserved during the Hesperian period, including the time from 3.7 to 3 billion years ago.

The material says that the results obtained from Jurong Georadar pointed out that water remained on Mars longer than before. Scientists believe that Mars remained wet until the Heserian period was late, meaning the conditions for life were still on the planet.

At the end of February, US scientists spoke what threats to health and life that the first people will face on Mars. Mars dust and iron oxide particles, plaster, chromium, beryllium, arsenic and cadmium, increasing the air in sand storms, are attributed to them.
