Unique red diamonds are first checked by scientists

Diamonds have a pure shade without impurities. Its weight is 2.33 carats. This is the fifth largest red diamond in the world. Scientists calculate that the opportunity to find such a stone is 1: 25,000,000.

The origin of the stone is vague. The cutting style shows it made in the first half of the twentieth century. The earliest mention of diamonds in documents dating back to 1938. After that, Jacques Cartier sold to Mr. Maharaja Navanagar (India). In 1988, Ronald Winston, the son of the famous collector Harry Winston, bought a stone from Maharaja, and in 2023 transferred it as a gift to the Smithsonian Museum.

Scientists have analyzed the optical properties of the stone and compares it with other models. They have made clear, spectral and luminescence.

It is known that red diamonds are formed with similar heating and serious pressure in the earth's intestines like other stones. Their rare red color is not by micro -tissue, but by a single deformation of a crystal network. Their structure at an atomic level is curved in a way that changes the interaction of diamonds with light.

The scientists came to the conclusion that the diamond had experienced a great tension in a coating. Its most likely places are called Brazil or Venezuela. However, the exact place is not known, the Gems Gemology report.

Before Superlmaz was created in China. It is 40% stronger than nature. The sample is received by heating high graphite. Superilmaz can withstand heating up to 1100 degrees Celsius, with hardness of 155 gigapascals.
